Places to Visit in Tigre and its Delta in one day
The city of Tigre offers numerous museums, a wide range of dining options, and an unparalleled natural environment.
Puerto de Frutos: A charming market featuring a wide variety of shops and eateries. Here you can find wicker and cane products, rustic textiles, plants, flowers, sweets, and liqueurs.

Paseo Victorica: Starting where the Tigre River meets the Luján River, this picturesque promenade winds along the riverbank for several blocks. It’s the perfect place to relax on a bench with stunning views. You’ll find rowing clubs, children’s play areas, and excellent restaurants along the way. The path also leads to two of Tigre’s most important museums.
Museo de la Reconquista: A colonial house with exhibits that tell both national and local history. It’s located near the spot where Santiago de Liniers landed on August 4, 1806, before reconquering Buenos Aires during the first British invasion.

Museo de Arte de Tigre (Tigre Art Museum – MAT): Originally established in 1910 as the headquarters of the Tigre Club, a gathering place for Buenos Aires’ elite who spent weekends in the Delta. Since 2006, it has functioned as a museum showcasing an extensive collection of 19th- and 20th-century Argentine artists.
Opening times: Wednesday to Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Casa Museo Sarmiento (Sarmiento House Museum): A historic glass-encased structure that belonged to former Argentine president Domingo F. Sarmiento. He was one of the first to purchase land in Tigre in 1855. After his death, the house changed hands until it was finally donated to the Municipality of Tigre in 1996 and restored.
Parque de la Costa: Inaugurated in 1997 as the successor to the famous Ital Park, this is the most important amusement park in Buenos Aires, featuring over 50 attractions, including roller coasters and water rides — perfect for families and friends.

It happened in Tigre
A strong southeasterly storm forced Santiago de Liniers to change his intended destination from the port of Olivos to the Río de las Conchas, as it had been named by Juan de Garay in 1580. Thus, on August 4, 1806, Santiago de Liniers landed on the banks of what is now the Reconquista River, in Tigre. This event is considered foundational for the city of Tigre.
